About the Cuggionesi Website

How this website began

This website is an ongoing work that did not realize it was begun in the late 1800's when my great-grandparents emigrated from Cuggiono to Herrin, Illinois. Having been reared in a traditional Italian community and household brings an inherent sense of respect for the oft-neglected values of community, tradition, culture, and one's elders. As I have been given a unique perspective - to have known the original emigrants who brought my family and its origins to this country - as well as seeing the inevitable changes we have sustained and are bound to endure, I must offer this website as an attempt to preserve the connection to our roots and the past. I would hope that this effort will serve as a rich source of continuity for those who are yet to come.
